Mary Kaye Bredeson 
Director, for the Materials Process and Development Center

Director's Blog:

As Director, Mary Kaye provides leadership and management for the center's business outreach, program development, marketing and communication efforts.  As the center director, Ms. Bredeson also acts as a liaison for the partners involved in the center; partners include Edmonds and Everett Community Colleges, local K-12 Career Technical programs, industry representatives, community-based organizations, government agencies, and labor unions.

In addition to her role with the MPDC, she serves as Director of the Department of Labor/Triad Project, and provides leadership in fostering national and international collaborative partnerships between industry and education within the area of materials science and composites.

Sandra Mejia, Outreach Coordinator, Materials & Process Development Center

As Outreach Coordinator Sandra Mejia serves as the primary staff member for identifying employment opportunities for Hispanic students enrolled in professional and technical programs including Worker Retraining.  Sandra works with many Latino populations to identify those persons interested in job development and placement in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing career cluster. Ms. Mejia brings a variety of experience in being able to meet with businesses to determine skill needs, marketing college programs, assessing student skills in relation to employer needs, and assisting with job search activities.

Jerrilee Mosier,Ed.D Vice President, Workforce Development and Training EdCC


Jerrilee Mosier has over twenty years of experience in community colleges, having held positions including faculty member and chief academic administrator.  In her current position as Vice President for Workforce Development and Training at Edmonds Community College, Jerrilee's leadership has fostered a culture of partnership with local businesses and organizations.  Major projects which she has spearheaded have garnered local and national recognition for the college. These projects include:

• The development of a new advanced materials science program focused on the workforce needs of aerospace and other manufacturing industries.  This program and related activities has garnered over six million dollars in external grants and contracts.
•  The coordination of services and delivery of the Skills Assessment for entry level and incumbent workers for the new 787 Dreamliner.  All services and assessment activities are located at the Employment Resource Center.

Jerrilee has also kept the college focused on developing new programs to meet the demands of industry.  During her time at Edmonds Community College, a variety of new professional technical degrees and certificates have been developed and implemented in targeted industry clusters i.e., Healthcare, Information Technology, and Manufacturing. Numerous short term training programs have also been developed to meet the needs of business and industry.  

Dr. Mosier earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Oklahoma State University, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Tulsa and a Doctorate from Oklahoma State University.

Charles Seaton
Principal Investigator for the development of a global curriculum for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

Charles Seaton joined Edmonds Community College in 2004 as director of the newly formed Washington state Center of Excellence, also known as the Materials Process and Development Center. Later, he became Principal Investigator for the development of a global curriculum for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA is developing an awareness class regarding the maintenance of composite materials in commercial aircraft in order to respond to the greatly increased useage of these materials in the latest aircraft designs. He has taught at various colleges, including DeVry University (online professor - business management), University of Dallas (graduate school - financial accounting) Seaton held numerous positions with an aerospace firm, Heath Tecna, for over 20 years, including president and CEO, and management positions in marketing, finance and engineering. He also was program manager of commercial helicopters at Bell Helicopter Textron, and served as an officer in the U.S. Army (Captain, artillery branch). Seaton holds degrees of  Master of Business Administration (Stanford University), Master of Science (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and Bachelor of Science (University of Washington).

Cyndi SchaefferCyndi Schaeffer Executive Director, Business & Training Center, EdCC
 
Cyndi is the Executive Director of Edmonds Community College, Business and Training Center.  She has over twenty years of experience with workforce development and working with industry.  She worked with the Department of Labor and Industries, Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Social and Health Services and has been working as adjunct faculty with several universities for the last 15 years.

DOL TRIAD II Advanced Manufacturing Grant
Free Tuition and Books for Advanced Manufacturing Students. The grant is part of a U.S. job training initiative to prepare workers for new job opportunities in high growth sectors of the American economy. The training will produce 600 new graduates in advanced manufacturing fields with an Applied Technology Associate (ATA) degree, specialty certificate, or Associate of Applied Science – Transfer (AST) degree.
